dachshunds in London put best foot forward for Cancer Research

Dogs put their Best Paws Forward for Cancer Research

On Sunday 8th June this year, up to 100 dogs will take part in a sponsored 4km walk around Highgate Woods to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

This event – Best Paw Forward – was a great success last year, and everyone, dogs and humans, had a lovely morning together, smashing our target of £10,000 for the charity. Do come and join us for this year's walk: there are goody bags for all entrants.

The route covers two laps of this beautiful ancient woodland in North London and we’ll set out in small groups from 10am, starting from the playing fields in front of the cafe. There will be prizes for the best fundraisers, and for the Best Dressed Dogs and a group from Dima’s Good Boy Dog School will give a demonstration of their talents.

Registration is £8 per dog. Once registered, participants will be sent an information pack and details of how to set up their dog’s own online sponsorship page. In the meantime, please visit our facebook page: www.facebook.com/BPFHighgate  and see the fun we had last year.

Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research. Their groundbreaking work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer has seen survival rates double in the last 40 years. Let's help them achieve their goal to MAKE CANCER HISTORY.

Scooby's boutique Dog Cafe

Members of dachshunds in London were invited to a private shop and coffee event at
Scooby's Boutique & Dog Cafe in Muswell Hill.

There just aren't enough pet friendly dog cafes in London and its so frustrating when you want to grab a decent latte walking the dog, so we were very excited and impressed to visit newly opened Scooby's.

The Cafe, also a mini boutique for pets, is located on Fortis Green Rd in Muswell Hill and offers a delicious range of pastries accompanied by a selection of doggy treats and toys which you can also take home with you.

This means you can now bring your dog out for a coffee with friends! we say well done to owner Lisa!

Our little four pawed friends were free to roam every corner of this trendy cafe which is kitted out with funky chairs and is spacious enough for a nice crowd of two and four legged customers. Its also perfect place to hire out for small parties, launches and events.

We caught up on the latest park adventures with our dachshund friends and tried some of Lisa's doggy home baked treats - I admit I did actually try some! The lemon drizzle cake was more suited to my palate.

Purchases included the giant Caterpillar toy,'what will Willson be doing with that we ask? - hmmm no comment!and Milo was treated to a lovely handmade Scooby's collar-chief...

We hope to go back soon, but if you ever shop around Muswell Hill - now you know where you and your dog can go together!
